Susan Brown
Director

Susan attained a Bachelor of Applied Science in Occupational Therapy at Latrobe University in 1991. She has worked extensively as an occupational therapist in mental health, in acute, community and residential recovery settings. She has also worked as the senior mental health clinician in a paediatric service. Susan is passionate about supporting people experiencing challenges with their mental health and wellbeing and believes everyone is an individual with their own goals, hopes and dreams. She uses a person-centred approach to support people to achieve what’s important to them.

Susan has extensive experience working with people experiencing mental health conditions such as Schizophrenia, Schizoaffective Disorder, Bipolar Affective Disorder, Depression. Dual Diagnosis and Autism Spectrum Disorder. She has a particular interest in sensory modulation strategies, and how these can be utilised to support a person’s ability to self-regulate, develop coping skills and perform their everyday activities. Susan enjoys using meaningful activity within her sessions and recognises the importance of  creating a safe space for her clients within these sessions, as well as maintaining a trauma informed focus of care.

Susan completed the Occupational Therapy Driver Assessment and Rehabilitation Course at Latrobe University in 1999 and has worked in this area ever since. She has provided driver assessment and rehabilitation to people with a wide range of health conditions and believes the ability to drive in a safe manner is not dependent on a person’s age.

After working in public mental health and private practice settings for many years, Susan followed her own dream, setting up REEF Occupational Therapy.
